No Bathroom Led Me To This…

With all of the very supportive challenges out there for January, this one that my insta-friend Nancy Ray has created just really moved me. Maybe it will move you too. Why was I moved?

“We have to shut everything down for about a week…It’s broken”

I sat. I thought. I knew I’d get a message that it was all okay.

2019 is going to be a very special year. Every year is, but this one will bring us growth in so many ways. We didn’t just start right at the stroke of midnight. We’ve been building up for it for some time. Good thing ,because right before New Year we ran into a really big snag!

Our Septic System Failed
We were totally shut down.
Hotels were looking good!
Midnight runs next door to my in-laws with coyotes and strange sounds were our destiny.
Having to coordinate showers with my in-laws and our family.
No running water. Washing with cloths. Having to use a bucket for emergencies.
IT WAS A CRAZY TIME WITH POSITIVE THINKING BEING PUMPED IN!

no bathroom leads to thankfulness and the contentment challenge
And then we thought to ourselves…Yes, this is awful, but think of everything we do have. Think of those people who don’t have plumbing, or even a home. Think about the two children we sponsor through Compassion. Our hearts are full. We remained positive and things moved (no pun intended) really quickly!

It’s amazing what positive thinking does. What prayer does. We’ve been doing diligent about having this mindset for a long time and now it was time to put it into action during this inconvenient time, rather than tragic! It was not tragic, by any means.
The excavation company came in with speed
Pipes were connected
Our electrician showed up and worked swiftly
WE WERE NOW CONNECTED TO TOWN SEWER!

{The people who owned our home never connected, but the last puzzle piece was finished.}
I have never been so excited in my life when I had my conveniences back and it pushed me way into a reflection of how much I buy and what I really need.

Then, Nancy Ray showed up on my feed. Coincidence? Nope!

The Contentment Challenge spoke to me…

Below is a sampling of part of her challenge:

CREATE A LIFE GIVING HOME:

  • Read A Life Giving Home with the Nancy Ray Book Club throughout the year
  • Weekly Questions with Will (Blogpost coming on this)
  • Mind-Body-Soul time with each girl daily (Blogpost coming on this, too!)
  • Quarterly de-clutter and donation run

I really can’t express how sweet Nancy is as her personality just beams through her insta-stories and her blog. Her photography is top-notch! She is a mom of 3, with a newborn son. Love!

Thank you, Nancy for allowing me to share!
